2008 IIHF World Hockey Championships Halifax Metro Centre 5284 Duke St, Halifax. All 16 teams are now confirmed for the 2008 IIHF World Championship in Canada, the first time this tournament will be held in Canada. The 2008 event will be held in Quebec City and Halifax with Team Canada playing its Preliminary and Qualifying Round games in Halifax. The teams which will compete for gold in 2008 are: Canada· Russia· Belarus· Slovakia· Czech Republic· Sweden· Denmark· Switzerland· Finland· U.S.A.· Germany· Norway · Italy· France· Latvia· Slovenia.
